Meghan Holtan was born and raised in Anchorage and got hooked on unicycling and juggling with the Green Light Circus family in Talkeetna, Alaska when she was 14. At college in Chicago, she organized large student circuses, and taught circus with Chicago Youth Circus/CircEsteem Inc., a non-profit which unites kids from across Chicago and builds self-esteem through the circus arts. Later she started Runaway Circus with four close friends and traveled the country in veggie oil run bus while teaching and performing. Ultimately, the mountains and the community that raised her called her back to bring the elements of circus she loves to Anchorage and the rest of Alaska. A sliding-scale fee for performance and instruction reflect her value that circus should be available for lots of folks to enjoy.
